Theatre of the Dock

I had a magical experience on a dock the other day. I felt almost like I was behind the scenes of a grand theatre with rigging and curtains and puppets and backdrops. On stage is the perfection, the light, the facade, what they want you to see. But behind the scenes, in the wings, is the dark, the dust, the sweat, the discarded costumes and props, the gathering of something about to be born. It touched the child in me who ached, who aches for that world. And it reminded me, again, that creativity is everywhere.

Wonderful seeing this through your eyes, Hannah. I would have missed this special drama if I were only using my own eyes!

I love docks with working boats and old boat yards full of very old boats, and parts of boats. I loved your description Hannah. I could smell the smells. I saw so many characters in your pictures: puppets and ogres with grins and beards. Thank you!
